Yellow Weather Alert for All Districts
Beginning Wednesday at 09:00, all districts in mainland Portugal will be under a yellow weather warning due to forecasts of heavy rain and thunderstorms, as reported by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The affected areas include Lisbon, Bragança, Guarda, Leiria, Castelo Branco, and Coimbra, which will remain under warning until 15:00. Other districts such as Viseu, Évora, Porto, Faro, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Viana do Castelo, Beja, Aveiro, Portalegre, and Braga will be on alert until the end of the day.
Strong Winds Expected
Additionally, the IPMA has issued warnings for several districts including Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra, and Braga, due to strong southwest winds with gusts reaching 75 km/h along the coast and up to 95 km/h in the highlands between 03:00 and 12:00 on Wednesday.
Marine Conditions to Watch
From 06:00 to 18:00, districts including Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro, Beja, Leiria, Lisbon, Viana do Castelo, Setúbal, Faro, and Porto will also be under a yellow warning due to maritime agitation, with waves expected to reach 4 to 5 meters from the southwest, transitioning to northwest waves.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a three-tier scale, is issued whenever there is a risk for activities dependent on weather conditions.
